The Maywood First Aid and Emergency Squad was established in 1941. We are a full time volunteer ambulance service and the primary emergency medical care provider for the Borough of Maywood. We respond to calls such as motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, medical traumas, house fires, and cardiac arrests.

The squad answers approximately 700 calls a year, that is about two calls a day. We serve as back up (mutual aid) to our neighboring towns such as Rochelle Park, Lodi, Hackensack etc..

The Maywood First and Emergency Squad has 20 members. If you are 16 or older and live in a two mile radius of the borough of Maywood, you are able to join the squad. You must be a registered EMT, with the state of New Jersey and have a valid CPR card. Any other training, such as defibulation, is not a requirement, but is recommended. You can get this training, by taking a three month course. We are always seeking for new volunteers to join the squad!!

We also have a youth squad. The youth squad is a supplement of the senior
squad. It is open to Maywood youths ages 16-18 and they must have the same training as the regular squad.

The training is a great know, one day you may be able to save someone's life and that someone could be someone you know.
