THE VOLUNTEERS OF THE SQUAD ARE REWARDED BY THE SELF SATISFACTION OF KNOWING THEY ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE. We have a feeling of satisfaction knowing that we help our fellow community members. Having the skills and the knowledge to make a real difference in someone's life is enough to motivate the current, dedicated members of the squad and continue their training and volunteering. Serving on the squad is a excellent, real time experience for many other career choices. The knowledge that you will gain in our organization will have value in all aspects of life. Back to Top3. How Much Time ... ?The State of New Jersey and Maywood First Aid & Emergency Squad requires that you attend a EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) class that is about 120 hours long and approximately 3 months in length. Then the squad requires that the member make at least 50 calls a year, make a weekly night duty night, a rotation weekend duty night.
