Roll Over Accident with Pedestrian Struck

Maywood firefighters were roused at 1:30 a.m. on July 22 to respond to a “working house fire” at a West Pleasant Avenue home. The heavy smoke condition pouring from the home blanketed surrounding streets with a hazy fog that struggled to dissipate on the humid night. Before the firefighters ended their duties at the call, volunteers from Rochelle Park, Paramus and Lodi had joined their ranks to assist.

30 year old male fell asleep while driving his 2000 Honda Accord on Maywood Avenue. The victim suffered some internal injuries and head injuries, but miraculously survived the accident. It took rescue units from Maywood and Rochelle Park, 45 minutes to cut him out. One major point on this accident was that the victims feet went through the foot base of the vehicle. (His feet were almost touching the street)

On December 24, 1999, at a recent grand opening celebration of its new Maywood branch office, Commerce Bank (Maywood/Pleasant) donated $250.00 to the Maywood First Aid Squad.
